Event Volunteer Form

As part of UNI’s Sesquicentennial Celebration, students in both the English Department and Alpha Xi Delta have the opportunity to volunteer with the Cedar Valley Angels to help the foster families in our programs. This opportunity will be on Wednesday, April 8th, from 12-4 pm. You will be able to help with spring yard work and light outdoor projects for foster families in need of a helping hand. We understand that you are not contractors and therefore cannot be expected to complete tasks that require professional expertise. We are partnering with two local companies that will provide volunteers to act as crew leads for students and staff at each location. Cedar Valley Angels will provide the tools, materials, and any necessary safety equipment.

Please email myranda@cedarvalleyangels.org if you would be willing to provide transportation, as we will be carpooling to the various locations.

Can't make it to The Great Escape event on March 27th? No worries! We are hosting another one of these fun, competitive events for a cause on November 13th at our office! This event will follow the same parameters as The Great Escape, but the theme will align with our 2027 campaign, which we will announce in the fall, prior to the event.

Below is a general overview of the competition. We will send out more details related to the theme as it gets closer! All we ask is for two hours of your time and a little competitive spirit! 

• Pick a time on Friday, November 13th (8:30-10:30am, 11am-1pm, or 5:30pm-7:30pm)
• You have 90 minutes to "break out" at CVA. In the past, this has been a CVA-style mock construction zone or escape room.
• How do you break out? Call, text, etc. your friends, family, and network for 25 $25 donations before the 90 min. are up (in the past these 25 donations have been referred to as "selling" metaphorical "bricks" or "keys" to fit the theme). The highest amount sold in 90 minutes was 80!
• All of the money raised will benefit Cedar Valley Angels and our programs, which serve the local foster care community! Help us step into 2027 strong and make a difference for youth and caregivers right here in the Cedar Valley! Your two hours truly has transformational impact!

• Are you a businessperson but a party-planner at heart?
• Do you love seeing a party come together—from spreadsheets to streamers?
• Maybe you have a lot of connections and would love to help bring the community together for a good cause?
• Do you just love pitching in and helping an event come together?

⭐Then this is the committee for you! We believe everyone can find a place at CVA—from college students to CEOs. Whether you can commit to one event a year or you are on board for all the details, we could use your help to make every CVA event sparkle and spark change for foster care.

Do you love organizing and/or cleaning?  Great! We have just the things for you! We have needs that vary week to week that can include:

• Organizing supply donations
• Organizing various supplies or event materials
• Organizing storage in basement
• General office cleaning (vacuuming, dusting, windows, bathrooms)

Our 2026 campaign is "Breaking Cycles," and on March 27th we need your help to "unlock the potential" of youth experiencing foster care in our community, by competing in an escape room for a cause!

We need people with your influence and heart for our community to advocate for the most vulnerable among us—youth and families experiencing foster care.  On Friday, March 27th we are inviting you to a great escape at our CVA office location at 304 South Street in Waterloo. In order to escape, we need your help to collect 25 “keys.” All we ask is for two hours of your time and a little competitive spirit! Curious? See all the details below!

While local celebrities, businesses, and community partners make their "Great Escape" while advocating for foster care, we need volunteers to pour coffee, pass out pizza, and assist with event logistics at each of the three sessions.
